The Islander bar and grill
Welcome to the Der

What do you get when you combine a French Nobleman, a ghost story, and a dead end street? You get the Islander Bar and Grill. Local legend has it that the Marquis de Lafayette stopped at the live oak behind The Islander on his way from New Orleans to meet with General Washington during the American Revolution.

In the 1800’s our live oak was used as the meeting point to get the ferry to Pawleys Island. A young couple was killed when the horse pulling their carriage went wild and crashed into the live oak. Their spirits are said to haunt the area to this day. We like to think they found the party, and want to make sure it ROCKS! And you only have to look behind the bar to see our dead end street. History, mystery and a little off center, it all comes together at the Islander Bar and Grill.

The best dive bar from Maine to Miami

The Islander Bar and Grill is the iconic dive that has been rocking Pawleys Island since tailfins ruled the highways, from Maine to Miami. Our history of great people and great parties date back to the 1950’s. We have over 70 years experience in how to throw a party.

Great food, cold drinks and plenty of TVs to watch all the games. We feature live, local music most weekends. Our pool tables provide sport and entertainment. Check out our calendar or Facebook page to see what’s happening this week at The Islander.

We have a great selection of food, with specials almost every day. It might be a local favorite, an old family recipe or something that just strikes the chef’s fancy, you never know what you’ll find on the menu at The Der, but you can be sure it’s going to be great!
